Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure hosts 2nd French Maritime Day

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) hosted the second edition of French Maritime Day as part of joint initiatives between the UAE and France to drive strategic partnerships and exchange experiences in the maritime sector.

Hosted in collaboration with Business France, a government-led agency that helps French companies expand internationally and foreign companies invest in France, the event drew the participation of Nathalie Kennedy, Consul-General of France in Dubai, maritime officials and experts from both countries and multiple national and international maritime companies.

The event focused on the role of modern technology as a lever for the growth of the maritime sector. Participants delivered presentations and carried out workshops to highlight the latest innovative technologies and solutions in the maritime industry.

Moreover, they discussed the future of the maritime sector and how to make it sustainable, in line with the UAE's plans for developing a robust blue economy, the targets set by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), and the collective drive to achieve net zero by 2050.

Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs at MoEI, said, "Hosting the French Maritime Day strengthened the bilateral relations and reflected a shared desire to drive vibrant sectors that contribute to sustainable development and environmental protection."

She added, "Innovation plays an important role in developing the maritime sector. We are committed to devising sustainable solutions that are environmentally friendly and improve the sector's energy efficiency. Solutions that come out of our partnerships with international players, such as France, have a far-reaching impact on our maritime industry."

Kennedy, in turn, said, "The visit of the French delegation reflects France's commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership in the maritime sector with the UAE. During this event, we explored opportunities for advanced cooperation, integrating modern technologies and sustainable environmental practices, while focusing on the development of ports of the future and green ports.

She thanked the Ministry for the warm reception and hospitality, stressing her country's desire to strengthen bilateral ties and open new horizons for cooperation with the UAE.
