NWC explains the benefits and mechanism of verifying water meter information

The National Water Company (NWC) confirmed that the initiative to verify water meter data is characterized by ensuring that it is linked to the actual beneficiary, be it the owner or the tenant. It preserves their rights, helps them manage all services associated with the account, contributes to the continuity of services provided to them and allows the company to communicate directly with them and send notifications related to their account.

 

The company explained that the verification of meter data allows the actual beneficiary to request services, track their status through digital channels, receive invoices and SMS related to their meter, and that the beneficiary can know the details of their account, track consumption and receive notifications if it is too high.

 

NWC stated that the meter information can be easily verified by logging in via the NWC mobile app or the electronic branch, then select the account(s) to be verified, and determine the current relationship that binds the customer to the account, whether owner or beneficiary. If the account is not added, the owner can add his meter and determine the current relationship that binds him with simple steps, indicating that if the account is visible to the beneficiary and can see it details, then it is considered verified. If the existing account is not related to the customer, the option "not mine" is selected.

 

The company explained: "The verification of water meter data guarantees the rights of everyone, whether owner or tenant. At the end or termination of the tenancy in properties with independent meters, the water meter reverts to the owner's ownership. Whereas the owner of a property with multiple owners must form ownersط association and appoint a representative to verify the meter data".  NWC indicated that where there is a group of tenants in a property with a shared meter, the meter remains associated with the owner of the property. Even if the meter is in the name of a deceased person, the legal representative of the heirs must verify the meter details by adding the account and attaching a copy of the power of attorney.

 

The company pointed out that the request to verify information for a tenant in a property with a separate meter would be verified on the IJAR platform. NWC emphasized that the meter would automatically revert to the owner's name upon termination of the tenancy. NWC point out that the documents required for the information-verifying process from property owners are proof of ownership of the property.

 

The company said: "Failure to verify the meters information will affect the continuity of the service provided to the beneficiary, and the verification process will be mandatory for rented properties. NWC stressed that verifying the meter and linking it to the beneficiary will eliminate financial disputes between property owners and tenants."

 

The company mentioned that all its official channels are ready to serve customers round the clock and help them with the process of verifying water meter information, whether through its mobile app or its e-branch e.nwc.com.sa
