The Cabinet issued a decision, on July 16, to establish the National Minerals Program under the umbrella of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
The Ministry said in a statement on X platform that the most prominent tasks of the program include the quality and sufficiency of supply chains for current and future minerals, as well as developing and managing strategic storage of minerals.
Moreover, the program aims to secure and follow up the Kingdom’s mineral needs, develop plans and strategies, provide industrial supplies of mining raw materials, and ensure the continuity of its supply.
The Ministry pointed out that the impact of the program includes enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a global regional center for the mining and minerals sector and meeting the increasing local, regional and global needs for minerals.
In addition, the program is to build local capabilities for minerals, and contribute to exploration operations.
