NWC starts implementing 25 water and environmental projects in the Asir region with SR +960 million

The National Water Company (NWC) announced that it has started the implementation of 25 water and sanitation projects in the Asir region in the Southern Cluster. The length of the pipelines and networks is more than 1,481 kilometers and the total cost is more than 960 million Saudi riyals. These projects are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to implement its strategic plans to qualify infrastructure in both the water and wastewater sectors, based on its initiatives to expand services to its customers.

 

     NWC said that the water projects it has started to implement are 23 projects in Asir region and its governorates. These projects will cover a number of districts in Abha city, Khamis Mushait, Bisha, Namas, Balqarn, Tarib, Sarat Ubaida, villages in Al-Amwah governorate, Samakh and Atif centers in Bishah governorate, Al-Zarq, Al-Wasit and Al-Hamda centers, Al-Hamidan building blocks and affiliated villages in Tathleeth. In these locations, transmission lines and networks with a length of more than 1,410 kilometers and 19 operational reservoirs with a total capacity of 109,350 cubic meters will be implemented at a total cost of more than 907 million Saudi Riyals.     

 

The company indicated that it has started implementing two sanitary drainage projects in Asir region, which will cover a number of districts in Khamis Mushait Governorate, namely: Shukr, Al-Hamra, Uhud, Thalalah, Al-Wesam, Al-Yarmouk and Al-Harabi districts, with a total length of lines and networks exceeding 71 kilometers, at a total cost of more than 53 million Saudi Riyals.

 

    NWC stressed that the package of projects is part of its efforts to strengthen the water distribution system, eliminate environmental damage, achieve water security and environmental balance, increase the percentage of service coverage, and provide sustainable drinking water. The company stressed that it continues to implement its strategic plans to increase operational efficiency in the water and environment sectors according to the highest standards of quality and performance to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
