UAE participates in Arab Ministerial Water Council meeting in Jordan

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure took part in the 16th session of the Arab Ministerial Water Council meeting held on Wednesday in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The UAE delegation was led by Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at the Ministry.

In his address, Al Kaabi highlighted the UAE's efforts to combat water scarcity through the development of the UAE Water Security Strategy 203, innovative programmes for managing water supply and demand, advancing the use of modern desalination technologies, and reusing treated water.

He reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting Arab and international initiatives to tackle water scarcity and achieve water security and sustainable development goals.

The meeting also reviewed the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative which is dedicated to helping address global water scarcity by supporting the development and application of breakthrough technologies while raising the importance of water scarcity on the global agenda.

It also highlighted the United Nations Water Conference, which will be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal in December 2026, emphasising its role in accelerating global efforts toward Sustainable Development Goal 6 on water.
