The Sports Boulevard Foundation has received best-in-class recognition from active travel accreditation ActiveScore – one Platinum Communities Certification for the Sports Boulevard Masterplan and one Platinum Certification for the Global Sports Tower.
The Sports Boulevard project aims to revolutionise urban planning in Riyadh. It stretches over 135 kilometers and features more than 4.4 million square meters of green and open spaces, along with up to 50 multi-disciplinary sports facilities and integrated infrastructure. This project is dedicated to enhancing the city's quality of life for residents and visitors. It has been awarded a Platinum ActiveScore Communities Certification – the first in the world.
Launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on March 19, 2019, the Sports Boulevard project, chaired by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to enhance the quality of life in Riyadh through integrated infrastructure, pedestrian pathways, cycling tracks, and horse-riding trails.
The Global Sports Tower, the tallest sports tower in the world, is a key landmark of the Sports Boulevard project. It will feature more than 30 sports facilities, including the world's tallest indoor climbing wall, at 98 meters. The wall will cater to climbers of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals, allowing everyone to enjoy this rapidly growing sport.
The tower will be crowned with the world’s highest running track – an entirely digitized 250-meter circuit. Athletes will enjoy a unique training experience and one of the best views of Riyadh. The Global Sports Tower is the first building in Saudi Arabia to achieve ActiveScore certification, setting a new standard for sustainable travel and healthy living.
Receiving two Platinum ratings from ActiveScore highlights the Foundation's commitment to improving Riyadh.
