Saudi Arabian wins virtual World Cup!

24 year-old Saudi Arabian Abdulaziz Alshehri became virtual football world champion by winning the 2015 Fifa Interactive World cup in Munich, Germany. Alshehri walks away with 20.000 USD and a ticket to the star-studded Ballon d’Or in Zürich where he will get to meet all of his football heroes in the flesh. “It’s a dream come true, finally”, Alshehri said after his triumph.

After making his way through the group stages and the quarter-final Alshehri showed what he was made of by winning his semi-final with ease against newcomer Lyes Ould-Ramoul from Canada. He then followed this up with a clear 3:0 win in the final game against French contestant, Julien Dassonville, who had previously dethroned the reigning champion, August Rosenmeier from Denmark in tense penalty shoot-outs.

„Quarter-final in 2012, semi-final in Madrid, and finally the champion in 2015. I think you have never to give up“, said Alshehri after the final.

His final match was made even more exciting by the co-commentating skills of Bayern Munich star, David Alaba, who then handed him his well-deserved trophy. After the final, virtual football star, Alshehri, was challenged by Alaba on the PlayStation and once again showed the world what an amazing player he is by beating him in a 3:2 victory.
