Saudi Arabia to highlight its atomic energy role at IAEA meet

The Saudi delegation to the 60th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are expected to highlight the Kingdom’s role in atomic energy development, while working to acquire the necessary expertise to nationalize this key sector by applying international standards and capabilities. The conference will commence on Sept. 26 at the agency’s headquarters in Vienna.
The Kingdom’s delegation to the week-long atomic energy conference will be led by Hashem Abdullah Yamani, president of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE).
As the organizer this year, the IAEA is going to make the General Conference a green meeting pot in an effort to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability. This means that the IAEA will keep the ecological impact of the General Conference as low as possible, using 100 percent renewable sources throughout the event. There will be a particular focus on waste reduction and recycling, and environmentally friendly catering.
