Saudi Arabia Extends Expatriates "Resident Identity" Cards Free of Charge

The General Directorate of Passports started automatically in extending at free of charge the "Resident Identity" cards of the expatriates who are inside or outside the Kingdom, working in the private sector's commercial and industrial professions, and whose resident identity cards expired from the date of 3/18/2020 until 6/30/2020.
The extension will be for a period of three additional months to match what has been previously carried out by the Saudi Ministry of Labor and Social Development.
This came emanating from the tireless efforts being exerted by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in dealing with the financial and economic implications of the global pandemic (Covid 19) to take measures to ensure the safety of citizens and residents, and to face impacts.
The General Directorate of Passports explained that the extension of the “resident identity” card was done automatically without fees as text messages are sent via mobile to all beneficiaries, in cooperation with the National Information Center and the Ministry of Finance.
