Red Sea Mall Launches Career Fair to Help Saudize the Mall and Retail Sector

In line with Saudi Arabia's 2030 Vision and the National Transformation Program 2020, Red Sea Mall, in support and cooperation with the Makkah branch of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MOLSD) and the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) (Hadaf), launched “How to be a Leader” initiative through "Career Day” - Nationalization of Red Sea Mall campaign to contribute to Saudization at the mall and in the retail sector in general.  Launched under the slogan "Hand in Hand For Future Career", the campaign intends to help Saudi youth apply for jobs at tenants/ companies renting in the mall.

The campaign was announced at a press conference held at the MOLSD branch in Jeddah and attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Hassan Al-Qahtani, Adviser to the Minister of Labor and Social Development and Supervisor of the Ministry's branch in Makkah; Dr. Hassan bin Yahya Al-Manakhra, Executive Director of Makkah Cultural Forum at the Emirate of Makkah Province (How to Be a Leader); HRDF Director, Abdul Rahman al Zahrani; and Engineer Aidrous al Bar, Executive Member of Red Sea Markets Limited, the owning company of Red Sea Mall.

His Excellency, Mohammed bin Hassan Al Qahtani thanked the organizers of the campaign and stressed that the private sector is a strategic partner of MOLSD in its efforts to increase the number of Saudi employees across all sectors.  He added: "MOLSD is working hard to create the right working environment for the youth and promote the values of work among them. The Red Sea Mall campaign is a unique initiative that will certainly produce positive results. This is a good opportunity for youths to find jobs that fulfill their ambitions. We will follow up the results of the campaign to make sure people benefit from such initiatives, which definitely advance the Saudization program that the Kingdom's 2030 Vision underlines."

While, Al Bar expressed appreciation for the efforts MOLSD is making to render the Saudization program successful and valued the strategic cooperation with the Ministry and HRDF to support this program and fulfill the ambitions of Saudi youth.

"The campaign for Saudization at Red Sea Mall is part of the private sector's active contribution to the implementation of the Kingdom's 2030 vision, which seeks to add 1 million jobs to the retail sector by 2020. Red Sea Mall pioneered in planning and implementing the initiative out of belief to linking in-between the government and the private sector in order to support the Saudi Youth," Al Bar said.

"As one of the largest homes for major brands in Saudi Arabia as well as one of the prominent landmarks of Jeddah, our role is not only commercial where we rent leasing areas and manage the mall but it extends to being an active part of the community, so we initiated the idea with the marketing team out of interest in nationalization and, linking between the tenants and the government where we strive to help them with the hiring process, who showed great enthusiasm for the initiative from the very beginning. With the great success it recently achieved in attracting young Saudis, the retail sector is today the most appropriate destination for the employment of Saudi citizens. We planned, prepared and now are implementing the campaign and our dedicated team at the center will follow up on the results of this campaign through regular surveys to measure its success and support the MOLSD program”, Added Al Bar

The MOLSD and its contributors in the campaign will create a platform at Red Sea Mall to promote awareness and support the career fair and its objectives. Representatives of the tenants in the mall will receive job applications at kiosks that the mall provided free of charge. Office desks were also designated for laptops so that those wishing to apply for jobs can prepare their CV's and benefit from their presence at the mall during the campaign.

HRDF (Hadaf) Director Abdul Rahman al Zahrani commented: "We are pleased to cooperate with Red Sea Mall to push the Saudization program forward. HRDF sent letters to people listed in its database to introduce the campaign and encourage them to apply for jobs during the career day. This is an important opportunity for both job seekers and the Saudi retail sector, helping Saudis find jobs and retailers increase their Saudization rates."

The "Career Day - Nationalizing Red Sea Mall" campaign contributes to the Saudization of the Red Sea Mall and the retail sector in the Kingdom as it is. The two-day campaign, held on Thursday 15 February and Friday 16 February, helps the mall's business partners achieve the required Saudization targets and serves the Kingdom's Saudization agenda.
