RCRC awards 4 road projects in Riyadh at over SAR 13B

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced commencing the implementation of a program to develop ring roads and main roads in Riyadh city. It awarded four projects, which include the first group of the program, at a value exceeding SAR 13 billion.

 

Contracts for projects of subsequent phases in the program will be awarded in the coming period.

 

The Commission said, in a statement that these projects are as follows:

 

 

 

- The project to implement the second southern ring road, with a length of 56 kilometers, extending from the new Al-Kharj Road in the east to the Jeddah Road in the west, which includes four lanes for the main road in each direction, and three lanes for the service road in each direction. The project also includes the implementation of 10 main intersections, and the construction of 32 bridges.

 

 

 

- The project to implement two bridges parallel to the suspension bridge (Wadi Laban Bridge) and develop the intersection of the Western Ring Road with Jeddah Road, with a length of four kilometers, which includes the implementation of two bridges parallel to the current suspended bridge, and the construction of four bridges at the intersection of the Western Ring Road with Jeddah Road.

 

 

 

- The project to develop the western part of Al-Thumama Road Axis, with a length of six kilometers, which extends from King Khalid Road in the west to King Fahd Road in the east.

 

 

 

- The project to extend Al Taif Road in the Laban district to the Qiddiya project, with a length of 16 kilometers, which extends from the western end of Al Taif Road in the Laban district in the east to the Qiddiya project.

 

In 2020, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman issued directives on the development of main routes and ring roads in Riyadh to upgrade the city’s transportation system, with the aim to transform the capital into a major hub and provider of sustainable transportation and logistics services in the Middle East. The project also aims to develop junctions between Riyadh’s ring roads and main routes, data available to Argaam showed.
