Kingdom to have media production city soon: Turaifi

Saudi Arabia will soon have its own media production city, Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Turaifi has said.

Speaking at a press conference following the opening of Souk Okaz Festival on Tuesday, the minister said the city would include a special platform to produce artworks that will highlight the Kingdom’s history, heritage, folklore and tolerance.

He said an Islamic art museum will also be opened to depict the great art history of the Kingdom.

The minister described those who doubt the ministry’s cultural projects as a small minority, compared to its ambitions for development and reform.

Turaifi revealed that the ministry would soon launch a number of technological projects and would promote its publications using the state-of-the-art technology.

He welcomed constructive criticism even for himself and said nobody, even ministers, is above criticism.

Turaifi described the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reform initiative as a sincere and creative strategic plan, which should be implemented to the dot.

He said the elections for the membership of literary clubs will soon be organized and asked the clubs to work hard to preserve the Kingdom’s literary heritage.

He appreciated the local media for supporting the Saudi armed forces stained along the southern borders with Yemen.
