K.A.CARE to help develop renewable energy sources

King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A. CARE) and Asir province will jointly work toward achieving the goal of green buildings, converting municipal solid waste into electricity and monitoring and developing sources of renewable energy for sustainable development.

“A joint cooperation agreement has been signed in this regard between K.A. CARE and Asir Municipality,” the K.A. CARE media department said here on Thursday.
The agreement includes a number of important things such as converting municipal solid waste into electricity, developing green buildings, monitoring and measuring the sources of renewable energy in the Asir region and using the techniques of renewable energy in various applications such as lighting parks and streets.
The agreement was signed in the presence of K.A. CARE President Hashim Abdullah Yamani, the media department said.
The K.A. CARE and the Asir governorate are working together on the development of renewable energy and converting solid waste into green energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuel, which is a key element of Vision 2030 that aims to diversify Saudi economy with sustainable development.
Earlier, Waleed Husain Abu Alfaraj, vice president of K.A. CARE, met at his office here Asir region’s secretary Saleh Al-Qadi and his accompanying delegation and discussed cooperation between K.A.CARE and the municipality.
Besides Asir province, K.A. CARE is also extending technical expertise to help develop renewable energy sources, industries and services related to renewable energy, and will provide relevant technical education and training in this field in the Holy City of Madinah.
Moreover, it is working on renewable energy closely with several government agencies including the Transport Ministry, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Wildlife Authority and the directorate-general of military survey to speed up work on the atlas of renewable energy. This is being done to achieve vision 2032, which aims to replace 50 percent of the dependence on traditional fossil fuel with atomic and renewed energy.
