Students from GEMS Education schools have recorded another successful year of IGCSE results after a round of challenging examinations.
Standout performances included: Jumeirah College whose students achieved an extraordinary 62 per cent of grades at A* to A, or the equivalent grades 9 to 7.
In 2017, the GEMS schools hosted a record number of students, over 1,750, who sat for their IGSCE/GCSE examinations. Once again, 40 per cent of all grades achieved across the GEMS schools were A* to A or equivalent.
The results achieved this year, surpassed 2016 English national averages. In the percentage of students achieving A* to A or equivalent grades GEMS students did better by 18 percentage points and in the percentage achieving A* to C grades or equivalent, GEMS students did better by 12 percentage points.
GEMS Education schools have once again affirmed its ability to raise the bar and attain outstanding results with 48 students receiving at least one grade 9 with eight gaining two.
The new top grade 9 is designed to recognise the very highest performing students. A further 86 per cent of students achieved A* to C or equivalent in English and maths compared to 59 per cent for the UK (2016).
Overall GEMS students have recorded exceptional results in 2017. The most remarkable student performances across the GEMS schools included the following:
