GE brings the joy of Eid shopping to 133 children; distributes 1,500 Ramadan Care boxes

As part of its commitment to make a positive difference to the community, GE Volunteers is marking the Holy Month of Ramadan with two noble initiatives. The Ramadan campaigns are held under the theme, ‘Ramadan for Everyone: Let’s Share Our Blessings.’

In partnership with Rawafed, GE Volunteers took 133 kids from needy families for Eid Shopping on May 27 and June 5 at Ibn Battuta Mall. GE’s staff will accompany the children in addition to the employees joining in to support the shopping activities by the kids.

Further, GE has also partnered with Royati Family Society, a charity organization with a mission to support the development of a healthy and responsible society, to distribute 1,500 Ramadan Care boxes.

Each Ramadan Care box, put together through contributions by GE employees and packed by GE Volunteers, is designed to meet the monthly supply for a family, and comprises rice, flour, oil, sugar, tea, biscuits, grains/lentils, soft drinks and other non-perishables.

The Ramadan Care boxes initiative also reflects the ‘Conserving Bounties’ program of Royati Family Society which aims to eliminate waste by ensuring that any excess food, toys, clothes or furniture are utilized to benefit the needy.

The Ramadan Care boxes were distributed to people identified by Royati on June 1 from 2-4pm at Royati Family Society Center in Nad Al Hammar and on June 3 from 1-3pm at Sonapur.

GE Volunteers undertake many projects world-wide, and are actively involved in supporting community activities. GE’s employees volunteer over one million hours of community service every year.
