Fakieh Planetarium offers its experience in education through entertainment at NAMES 2016

Fakieh Leisure and Entertainment Group, Tarfeeh Fakieh, represented by Fakieh Planetarium, concluded its participation in the international NAMES 2016 Conference organized by the North Africa and Middle East Science centers network in Amman, Jordan on October 26-28m 2016. Titled Tawasol (Communication) the conference was under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan.

The fifth conference of the North Africa and Middle East Science centers network is considered the only regional event of its kind that enables the exchange of expertise and knowledge in the science, education and museums sectors.  

Jamil Attar, Executive Director of Tarfeeh Fakieh, expressed his happiness at the participation of Fakieh Planetarium in this important conference that entrenches modern concepts in the development of education and awareness programs geared towards children and young people, noting that Fakieh Planetarium’s experience in education through entertainment has attracted a large turnout of youngsters in the Kingdom and has proved successful in delivering information and enriching the knowledge and imagination of children through entertainment, play and fun.

The three day conference introduced the concept of Communication in three main themes: Communication with the public, communication through content and communication to bring about change and positive impact in the community. These themes were covered through 12 workshops and a practical and interactive session that were presented by 45 prominent speakers and research experts from the Arab region, Europe and the United States of America.

The North Africa and Middle East Science Centers network (NAMES) was launched on May 30, 2006 during a meeting initiated and organized by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Planetarium Science Center. The network seeks to foster cooperation between science centers and science museums located in North Africa and the Middle East in order to benefit from the various resources and expertise available in the region.

NAMES aims to assist in the establishment of new science centers and science museums in various countries of the region to promote innovation in interactive learning and provide creative hands-on activities that give the public a chance to enjoy participating in them.
