Expats’ dependents can work in beauty salons

Female dependents of expatriate workers can now work in women’s beauty salons, Minister of Labor and Social Development Mufarrej Al-Haqabani has disclosed.

The decision will help in reducing the number of visas in this sector, said Haqabani during his meeting with Saudi business leaders in Madinah organized by the Madinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently.

He said that the beauty salon market is large and the field is open to Saudi women.

In 2014, the ministry decided to allow the dependents accompanying expatriates to work in the private sector without the need to transfer their iqamas.

Earlier, this arrangement was only limited to teaching jobs at private and international schools.

However, any company or establishment wishing to employ expatriates’ dependents must be in the green Nitaqat zone, be eligible for recruitment and must have the consent of the expatriate who is sponsoring the dependents. The dependent must also have a valid iqama, be less than 60 years old, have no work contract with any other establishment and be qualified for the job if there are no Saudi candidates for it.
