Director of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih held a meeting with His Excellency Emmanuel Kamarianakis, Consul General of Canada in Dubai. The two discussed means of boosting cooperation between Canada and Dubai especially in bilateral trade and customs business.
“It’s very important for us to boost ties of partnership with Canadian diplomatic missions and business councils and corporates. We have priorities which include delivering a leading customs experise to the world” said Musabih. “Canada is an important trade partner to Dubai. The total value of mutual non-oil trade in the first nine months in 2017 was AED 5b. Imports had the lion’s share with AED 4.4b, followed by re-exports with AED 361m and exports with AED 180.6m”.
He added:” enhancing trade ties with our partners will help them receive the best customs facilitations which will add great value to their business. There are 150 Canadian companies that have activities in the UAE, and we work with them to keep them involved in developmental efforts to help them benefit from our product and service offerings”.
On his part, His Excellency Emmanuel Kamarianakis, Consul General of Canada in Dubai applauded Dubai Customs’ efforts in supporting national economy and developing tourism and trade stating that Dubai is a world class trade and tourism hub and a central link between the east and west.
