Saudi gigaproject developer Diriyah Co. awarded a SAR 4 billion contract for the construction of the Royal Diriyah Opera House to a consortium of contractors, according to MEED magazine.
The contract was granted to a consortium comprising El-Seif Engineering & Contracting and Qatari firm Midmac Contracting. The opera house is part of the second phase of the Diriyah Gate Project, which is expected to be completed by 2028.
The Royal Opera House project covers an area of approximately 46,000 square meters and includes four venues: an opera theater with a capacity of 2,000 seats, an air-conditioned theater with 450 seats, a multipurpose theater with 450 seats, and a rooftop amphitheater with 450 seats. It also includes spaces for service wings and commercial facilities.
According to data available with Argaam, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, in collaboration with Diriyah, announced in January 2024 the establishment of the Royal Diriyah Opera House.
