The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the energy technology and improve efficiency in Abu Dhabi’s industrial sector.
This strategic collaboration, signed at the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP28) hosted by UAE, aims to strengthen cooperation frameworks in the green economy and support development of Abu Dhabi’s industrial sector in energy, sustainability, and innovative solutions to address climate change.
Both parties will work closely to strengthen the innovation community and emerging companies to contribute to technology trends in the electronic and electrical industries. They will develop frameworks of technology transfer and commercial partnerships in various areas including energy management, automation, and switchgears manufacturing.
The MoU reflects ADDED’s efforts to achieve Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy’s (ADIS) objectives and Schneider Electric's dedication to advancing energy-efficient power solutions and decarbonisation across the region.
Eng. Arafat Al Yafei, Executive Director of the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), ADDED’s arm to develop and regulate the industrial sector, said:“Collaborating with Schneider Electric marks a significant milestone in propelling Abu Dhabi's industrial sector forward through innovative solutions. Enhancing efficiency of energy consumption will support the industrial sector to increase its contribution to the GDP as Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy targets to more than double it to AED172 billion by 2031. This agreement will also accelerate our transition towards a circular, smart, and sustainable economy”.
