10-week program to indigenize Riyadh Metro Project launched

Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) has recently launched a 10-week summer training program, which includes: Rehabilitating national cadres in engineering disciplines and preparing them to work in the project during operational stages of Riyadh Metro project .

‏The program falls within the efforts of the ADA for optimization of King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in establishing public transport in the city’s various sectors and to take advantage of the expertise of international companies in the aspects of training and rehabilitation of national cadres in the field of public transport.
‏Summer-time training program included definition of the project which is characterized by enormity of size, exact nature, specifications of design and advanced technology, in addition to aiming to establish sustained transportation system in the city through the creation of a network for the metro with six major tracks.

‏During the program, the trainees also will recognize the key elements of the project, its components, techniques and modern systems, including paying visits to the project sites, headquarters of global coalitions executing the project, and identification of work environment in its various phases.

‏The summer training program is targeting Saudi graduates in the discipline of: civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and architecture.

‏The ADA has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development to prepare a plan for recruitment and training Saudi graduates. Ii is to be done in collaboration with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the Human Resources Development Fund, the Excellence Colleges Corp. and the Saudi Standards for Skills company, which include a number of programs working on the indigenization of expertise of the Saudi youth, notably in the field of training program and technology transfer in the Riyadh Metro contracts.

‏Opportunities arising from the King Abdulaziz Project for Public Transport in Riyadh is estimated to provide the city with as many as 23,000, direct as well as indirect jobs, in various disciplines.
‏The main three coalitions that are implementing the project have increased the number of Saudi employees working in the project to about 930 engineers and specialists. They are in charge of various engineering, technical and administrative works.
