The Mega Battery Project is the MENA region’s premier platform dedicated to utility-scale battery storage, BESS integration, Electric Vehicles, EV Charging infrastructures and the future of energy resilience. As governments and private sector entities across the region, especially the Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, pursue renewable energy goals for 2030 and 2050, the role of energy storage has moved from a support function to a critical infrastructure investment.
Landmark initiatives such as the world’s largest grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Project in Saudi Arabia, announced in February 2025 and currently under development, are redefining global energy storage benchmarks. Led by BYD Energy Storage in partnership with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), the project will deploy 12.5 GWh of advanced BESS across multiple strategic locations, building on a previous 2.6 GWh deployment to reach a total capacity of 15.1 GWh. This historic initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 targets by enabling grid flexibility, peak shaving, and seamless integration of renewable energy at a national scale.
This forum will bring together key stakeholders including project owners, developers, regulators, investors, contractors, technology providers, and manufacturers to address latest opportunities and most pressing challenges in the battery storage sector. From solar-linked battery storage facilities to cutting-edge manufacturing and second-life battery solutions, the event will explore real-world case studies, regional policies, market forecasts, and technology innovations shaping the future of energy in MENA.
