Reinforcing the brands’ quest for simplicity and modern luxury in design, for the Tod’s 2023 Pre-Spring collection, Creative Director Walter Chiapponi, has created a series of urban uniforms that reimagine elements of the classic male wardrobe with elegance and femininity.
These traditional garments include a oversize trench coat, an exquisitely tailored jacket and trouser suit, a men's shirt that becomes a dress, an understated pea coat, a small bomber jacket and a safari jacket with large utility pockets. The materials and colours are unconventional and include purple suede, white poplin-like leather, soft red plongé nappa, patchworks of distressed denim, linen and wicker hemp fabrics, and large ethnic stripes.
Inspired by the 90s, the simplicity of the minimalist and androgynous silhouettes pair with a rich and quintessentially feminine sense of texture and flaunting three-dimensional effects, display a distinctly artisanal feel.
The knitwear comes under the spotlight, combining essential lines with the tactile pleasure of handmade textures.
The accessories perfectly reflect a balance of exceptional Italian craftsmanship with the rigour and clean lines of contemporary design.
Large bags feature shapes that are geometric yet never rigid and their construction becomes a decorative element, as seen in the T Timeless Bag with contrast stitching. Precious leathers seamlessly blend with ethnic-style fabrics to enrich every look with a touch of individuality.
The shoes play on the most traditional Tod’s designs and a taste for the handmade, as seen in the classic Tod’s loafers with a straw wedge and metal Kate embellishment, and the sabot clogs in woven leather.
Deeply rooted in the Italian lifestyle, Tod’s traditional approach is accentuated by personality and international eccentricity.
