Saudi renewable energy capacity rises 63-fold since 2020

The cumulative operating capacity of renewable energy in Saudi Arabia has increased more than 63-fold since 2020, the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) said.

The center said on X that Saudi Arabia has promising natural resources supporting the future of energy and continues to convert these resources into renewable capacity on the ground.

The center noted that the data include projects that entered operation through September 2026 and exclude the Al Henakiyah 2 and Rabigh 2 projects, which are expected to be completed during 2026, with a combined capacity of 0.7 GW.
