Run Jordan Announces Launch of Aquafina Amman Marathon and Start of Registration

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness (HRH),

Prince Firas Bin Raad; Run Jordan Chairman of the Board of Directors, Run Jordan announced

that it began preparations for the Aquafina Amman Marathon event, which will be held on

October 14 th , under the slogan “Run in the heart of Amman”. The annual marathon will be

organized in coordination with the Greater Amman Municipality and sponsored by Aquafina for

pure drinking water; one of the products of PepsiCo International Company for food and

beverages; as the main sponsor of the event.

The Aquafina Amman Marathon is considered to be a significant and anticipated sports event,

both locally and internationally. It aims to emphasize Run Jordan’s commitment to raising

awareness on the importance of sports and leading a healthier lifestyle.

HRH Prince Firas Bin Raad commended the efforts of Run Jordan and its dedication towards

reaching various segments of society and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle. He

highlighted the importance of the international marathons held by Run Jordan and the vital role

it plays in enhancing Jordan’s status on the World Sports Event Map and promoting it as a

sports and touristic destination.

From his end, the Mayor of Amman, Dr. Yousef Al Shawarbeh, expressed his gratitude for the

efforts put in by Run Jordan to develop the local community, serve its members, and support

charity projects. He commended the sports events organized by Run Jordan, which are

becoming increasingly popular on the local and international levels. He also emphasized on the

importance of the continued partnership between Greater Amman Municipality and Run Jordan,

which aims to elevate the activities for the society. He also stated that partnerships such as this,

translates the values of Greater Amman Municipality, through collaborating and communicating

with different institutions for ensuring the success of common projects and developmental

initiatives.

The General Manager of Pepsi Jordan, Mr. Bassem Ali, commented by saying: “We, as

Aquafina, are proud to be the title sponsor of the Amman Marathon and the exclusive source of

pure drinking water. This sponsorship is a natural extension for the strategic partnership with

Run Jordan, and our role to support its activities. It also reflects our firm belief to significantly

contribute to the enhancement of an active and athletic lifestyle within the community, as well as

our approach to utilizing sports for benevolence and serving noble goals which will have a

positive impact on society, its members, and its sectors”.

In her turn, the General Manager of Run Jordan; Lina El Kurd, thanked HRH Prince Firas Bin

Raad for leading and continuously supporting Run Jordan, and his constant presence in its

events. She also thanked Greater Amman Municipality for its role to co-organize and ensure the

success of common activities, and thanked Aquafina for sponsoring the Amman Marathon and

all of Run Jordan’s upcoming programs, such as the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon and the Red Sea

Half Marathon, and for providing pure drinking water for all the activities held by Run Jordan.

Additionally, she thanked all the official and security entities, noting the role the Jordan Athletic

Federation played in supporting Run Jordan, in addition to, the important role that the media

and other sponsors played.

Moving on to the race, the Aquafina Amman Marathon will be divided into three categories, in

addition to the children’s race.

The registration for the marathon is now available online on Run Jordan’s website

(registration.runjordan.com) and will remain open till two days before the actual event.

Registration can also be done through Run Jordan’s office in Shmeisani.

The starting point for the 42 Km marathon race (individual/relay) and the 21 Km half marathon

will be at the Hashemite traffic light, whereas the starting point for the 10 km race will be in front

of the Royal Cultural Center. The award distribution ceremony will be held in the Roman

amphitheater – the Hashemite square.

The children race will be held in King Al Hussein Park on Friday, the 7 th of October 2022 at 9

AM. The winners will be crowned in football field number 11.
