Renault Trucks Middle East expands operations in developing Iraq market

Following the opening of its production plant for its C,K and D ranges in Iraq in 2013, ‎Renault Trucks has announced an exclusive partnership with Sunflower General Trading Company, ‎one of the main ‎business ‎partners of the State Company for Automotive Industry (SCAI), and truck ‎distributors ‎in Iraq. The deal marks the beginning of Sunflower’s position as Renault Trucks’ sole distributor ‎for Iraq, excluding Kurdistan, ‎and highlights the French truck manufacturer’s efforts to ‎expand operations as growth is expected in the country’s heavy-duty industry ‎sector‎.‎
The landmark agreement was signed at the headquarters of Renault Trucks in St Priest, France, by ‎ Sunflower General Trading Company CEO, Mr Abbas Jasim Mohammed Al Dabbas and President of Renault Trucks, Mr ‎Bruno Blin.
The new 1,000 sqm state of the art service centre ‎and ‎workshop in Baghdad, is already under construction and will be open for business in the first ‎quarter ‎of 2016. The facility will service existing Renault ‎Trucks customers based in ‎Iraq as well as new Renault Truck vehicles imported by Sunflower.
Speaking about the new deal, Mr. Bernard Amiel, Business Team Director of Renault Trucks Iraq, said, “Renault Trucks is already an established and trusted brand in Iraq‎ and our exclusive partnership with Sunflower Company will allow us to further strengthen our position in this developing market. Our goal is to continue improving the service and transport solutions that we offer our Iraqi customers and ensure that they receive the best possible after sales support.”
The new centre will assist Renault Trucks and Sunflower General Trading Company, to service ‎and facilitate a growing aftersales ‎market as well as the existing 2,500 Renault Trucks vehicles in Central and Southern Iraq. The partnership will allow Sunflower to expand their business and import new and fully completed Renault Trucks vehicles to the country, while continuing its business relationship with the ‎‏SCAI‎‎. ‎
