Prince of Mecca inaugurates 6 major water projects to serve the Holy Capital and the guests of Rahman at a cost of 3.1 billion riyals

Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prince of Makkah Region, Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee, opened today a number of water projects in Makkah and the holy places worth more than 3.1 billion riyals in the presence of Prince Badr bin Sultan, Ben Majid bin of Jeddah.

Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli said that the opening of the six major water projects implemented by the General Organization for Desalination, the National Water Company and the Saudi Water Partnership Company is a confirmation of the continued care and attention paid by the wise leadership of the water sector and its services in Makkah and the holy places. "The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has stressed that all water projects and plans should be based on the objectives of the National Water Strategy and the comprehensive water plan in the Kingdom in order to reach a sustainable water sector that develops and maintains water resources and protects the environment and provides high quality and efficient services that contribute to economic and social development" .

Minister Al-Fadhli said that the total value of the executed projects exceeded 3.1 billion riyals and is at the service of Makkah and holy sites targeted by the Kingdom, where it plans to receive 15 million pilgrims by 2020 and 30 million by 2030 within the objectives of the Kingdom's 2030 vision. The project includes the implementation of the project of desalinated water transmission from the desalination plant in Shuaiba to Mecca and the holy places at a total cost exceeding 875.000.000 riyals and the desalination plant project in Shuaiba the second phase with a design capacity of 250.000 cubic meters per day at a cost exceeding 1.175.000.000 riyals It includes water networks, household connections, strategic tanks, connecting sewage networks and connections at an excess cost of 600,000,000 riyals in a number of neighborhoods of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and holy sites, as well as the desalination project in Shuaiba with a multi-impact fumigation system at a total cost of SR 465,000,000.
