Prince Faisal opens Al-Fursan village in Al-Ula

Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman opened the first phase of Al-Fursan village and Al-Fursan festival in Al-Ula on Thursday in the presence of senior officials.
The governor was briefed on the village, which was designed in line with Al-Ula’s heritage and modern architecture.

The village has a conference center and multipurpose halls, which can be used for festivals and exhibitions and platforms to monitor races.
Prince Faisal watched a documentary on the different stages of Al-Fursan village, which is expected to cover three million square meters.
The first phase of the project includes two horse race courses with a total length of 46 kilometers. Places have been allocated for cottage industries of productive families and desert games.

Prince Faisal was also briefed on Al-Fursan festival’s activities, which includes pavilions of productive families to display handicrafts, traditional eateries, heritage dresses and antiquities.

Saad Al-Suhaimy, chief administrative officer of Al-Ula, said Prince Faisal has instructed the principality to establish a traditional village for camel race and associated activities on an area of five million square meters.
The new village will have a camel racecourse with a length of eight kilometers and a traditional souk. “We have already identified the location for the new village and will be ready within a year,” he said.

Al-Suhaimy disclosed plans to establish a golf court, resorts and shops for productive families at Al-Fursan village.
He also announced plans to hold international equestrian races in Al-Ula in addition to heritage and cultural events at Arab and Gulf levels.
