Over 100,000 ride-hailing Captains in Saudi Arabia take advantage of Careem’s 1-minute instant payout feature

Careem, the leading multi-service app in the region, records over 100,000 Captains in Saudi Arabia using its 1-minute instant payout feature since its launch in 2022. 

Since the launch last year, 96% of Captains have opted for the instant payout feature. This has resulted in nearly 1.5 million successful instant transactions, totaling approximately $38.5 million.

Careem is the first app to empower ride-hailing Captains in Saudi Arabia with the option to instantly access their earnings from a trip as soon as it is completed directly through their bank accounts. Captains traditionally received their payments on a weekly basis. Captains can now receive their well-earned income to their bank accounts in less than 1 minute with just a simple click of a button.

In today's increasingly digitized economy swift access to earnings is often essential. This is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goal of drastically reducing cash transactions by increasing the share of electronic payments to 70% by 2025.

Careem launched ride-hailing services in Saudi Arabia in 2013, commencing operations in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dhahran, and Khobar before expanding to reach 26 cities across the Kingdom. The Everything App now enables over 10 million customers across KSA to move around by car and from city to city, order food, and access house cleaning services, all at the tap of a phone.

Careem has over 2.5 million registered Captains across the region. Over SAR 529 million (over $141 million) was paid out in earnings to Captains in Saudi Arabia in 2022. More than 70,000 Saudi nationals use the Careem app as a flexible source of income on a monthly basis.
