NEW qualitative specializations have been included in the 13th edition of the King’s Foreign Scholarship Program to be launched this week.
Announcing this in Riyadh on Friday, Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Isa stressed focusing on quality specializations keeping up with the requirements of the coming year and are in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its various programs. They include artificial intelligence, cyber security and air transport, apart from health specializations, Saudi Press Agency said.
Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Scholarship Affairs Dr. Jasser Al-Harbash said the ministry held several meetings and workshops with private sector bodies, companies and firms to know from them the specializations that will be needed most. They reached several results to enable the ministry to determine the features of the 13th edition of the program.
Dr. Al-Harbash further said that the Ministry of Education has issued an online guide on the program’s website mentioning the conditions that must be fulfilled for “your scholarship is your job” track and the health specializations track. They will be in line with the rules set for each track.
He stressed that the quality health specializations would remain available throughout the year for applicants who are able to get admission in the recommended universities. This is due to the ministry’s realization of the importance of and dire need for these specializations.
Al-Harbash said the Ministry of Education has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) on Wednesday. Accordingly, the King’s Foreign Scholarship Program will allocate 1000 seats, 200 seats annually for five years, to young Saudis to specialize in vital cyber security areas.
He added that these external scholarship seats in cyber security specializations can be increased.
The agreement aims at achieving full coordination, cooperation and integration between the ministry and the NCA to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to have sufficient number of qualified specialists in the cyber security fields.
