International Desalination Association honours HE Saeed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA with the Presidential Award

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the International Desalination Association (IDA) concluded the 2019 World Congress that was hosted by DEWA at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre under the theme “Crossroads to Sustainability”. 

During the closing ceremony, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer MD and CEO of DEWA, received the International Desalination Association (IDA) Presidential Award, in recognition of DEWA’s effective role and unlimited support to ensure the resounding success of the congress and in appreciation of his pivotal role and efforts in sustainable development.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: “Guided by the theme of this year - Crossroads to Sustainability, the Congress was an opportunity to discover more international expertise in vital areas such as desalination industry, and to witness new projects delivered in the Congress in the areas of water desalination, and research related to the process of implementation, meet with international experts in the fields of electricity, water and clean energy, and present DEWA’s vital initiatives in the field of desalination and clean energy and disseminate it to society in addition to achieving the goals of the International Desalination Association. This year, the Congress provided an opportunity for DEWA to publicize its efforts in areas such as water conservation, development, sustainability, energy and others.”

This year, IDA hosted prominent seminars and discussion panels and prestigious awarding ceremony. A Technical Program was held to explore all aspects of advanced water treatment technologies, practices, and experiences. It featured oral and written papers focusing on a range of topics, from policy, finance, and market challenges to energy-water-waste nexus, renewable-driven desalination, and water reuse. The presentations were followed by the IDA Affiliate Majlis Discussions. Adding an exciting new aspect to the World Congress, these forums, were open to all registered delegates.  

This year at the Congress, leaders of the water industry, both public and private converged and connected to develop business opportunities, exchange ideas, share knowledge about cutting edge technologies, and their progress towards a sustainable future.
