First semester school exams begin today

Millions of intermediate and secondary school students across the Kingdom will sit on Sunday for their first semester examination of the academic year.

The education departments in various regions of the Kingdom have completed preparations for the exam. More than 700,000 students will sit for exam in Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah regions, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Abdullah Al-Thaqfi, director general of education in Jeddah, has asked school directors and invigilators to step up monitoring of students to stamp out cheating in exams.

Yahya Al-Qahtani, controller of examinations at Jeddah Education, said that a total of 362,880 students will sit for exams in Jeddah region.
A total of 1,050 male and female supervisors will carry out field visits to monitor the exams.

More than 150,755 students will sit for exams in government and private schools in Makkah.

Muhammad Al-Harthy, director general of education in Makkah region, said his department has completed all preparations and arrangements for the exams.

A total of more than 200,000 students will appear for the first semester examination in Madinah region. All secondary and intermediate schools in the government and private sectors as well as special education institutes, evening schools and schools for eradication of illiteracy have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of exams, according to Nasser Al-Abdul Karim, director general of education in Madinah region.
