Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider started a summer internship programme aimed at helping university students from the Middle East and all around the world acquire required skills for the district cooling industry. The programme commenced in July and will witness participation from students majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Applied Science In Information Systems (Networking) and Business Administration BAS/ Human Resources among many others.
The internship training is for a period of 6 to 15 weeks and includes students from UAE University, Cambridge International School, The Petroleum Institute, HCT, WHCT and Carleton University, as well as other universities from UAE, Malaysia and many others.
The internship program includes customised training as well as theoretical and practical components. In addition students have the opportunity to participate in a series of lectures by the company’s senior management team, and visits to Empower’s plants to give them first-hand industry experience through on-site practical instruction.

It will foster a greater understanding of the industry and help the students embark positively with their professional careers,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
The students are given training across major operations in Empower’s headquarters and plants. In addition, the program provides additional mentoring and skill development opportunities to help interns build a foundation that will position them for successful careers after graduation.
Offering students a combination of classroom coursework, hands-on training and on-the-job experience, Empower aims to offer qualitative opportunities to students to get trained and get the right expertise in the district cooling sector.
