Under the terms of the agreement, EMP will function as the e-commerce acquirer, while PayFort provides the Payment Gateway services. Additionally, PayFort will introduce potential merchants to EMP. Commenting on the launch, Hassan Mayassi, Chief Executive Officer of EMP Jordan, said: “PayFort is one of the most trusted payment providers in the Middle East and we are delighted to be announcing our partnership today. Combining our resources and expertise will bring valuable synergies to our customers.”
“PayFort’s partnership will leverage the significant experience that EMP has across forty-five countries in the Middle East and Africa,” said Omar Soudodi, Managing Director of PayFort. “We believe that EMP's partnerships in banking and retail across this geography will help us solve market payment challenges and allow more merchants to introduce more full-featured and user-friendly online payment solutions.”
“This deal is also good news for Jordan, which is expected to see its e-commerce transactions grow from US$200 million to US$400 million by 2020. EMP is a notable success story for Jordan's software and services sector and we look forward to working with them to help other Jordanian companies reach their full potential,” added Soudodi.
