Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, announced today naming next year 2020 as “Arabic Calligraphy Year”, in celebration of Arabic calligraphy and in appreciation of the importance it represents in expressing the stock of the Arabic language, its history and aesthetics in its details and forms. The announcement coincided with celebrating World Arabic Language Day.
The Ministry of Culture will work during Arabic Calligraphy Year 2020 to provide specific activities that serve Arabic calligraphy and enhance its presence in society throughout the year. It will also motivate government agencies and private institutions to participate in the event and contribute to highlighting the importance of Arabic calligraphy, as well as encouraging individuals and those interested in presenting their talents across various platforms.
