The General Directorate of Passports revealed on Saturday that nearly 10,000 people have corrected their postal addresses to benefit from the Wasel program.
Under the new system, the Passport Department will deliver Muqeem and other IDs through the Saudi Post. The new system, launched on Muharram 1, revealed that many Saudis and expatriates had entered wrong postal addresses.
Spokesman Maj. Talal Al-Shalhoub said the new system will help people enjoy high-quality passport service through the Internet. They no longer have to grapple with the hassle of visiting the otherwise crowded Passport Department offices.
“Document delivery service will be introduced in Riyadh soon and will then be taken to other regions of the Kingdom,” he said. “The directorate will provide the service of delivering residence permits and Saudi passports via Wasel. Nearly 290,000 residence permits will be delivered to expatriates through Wasel,” he said. “The Passport Department has printed nearly 450,000 Muqeem cards.”
