BCG’s Jeel Tamooh workshop a virtual success

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) held an engaging and productive workshop last week, as part of the Jeel Tamooh program. The initiative dedicated to inspiring and further transforming and honing the skills and knowledge of Saudi Arabia's most distinguished university students into future leaders.

In response to the global pandemic, communication with Jeel Tamooh participants has been maintained through online learning sources. Jeel Tamooh’s Self-Study Series, articles written by BCG’s most accomplished thought-leaders, have proven to be successful. The program has also been transitioned to an immersive digital format for the next few months, with the two-hour workshop welcoming almost 100 participants. During the session, the attendees observed a presentation on Core Consulting Skills, took part in solving a case study, and had the opportunity to engage with speaker and BCG principal, Yassin El Khourouj.

"Despite these challenging times, personal and professional development opportunities continue to arise, particularly in the youth segment," said Philippe Cornette de Saint Cyr, managing director and partner at BCG Riyadh. "The Jeel Tamooh journey has become more important than ever before in our quest to assist and support up-and-coming generations and enhance their skillsets. There is an abundance of talent with the capabilities to make a big impact in the areas they wish to pursue careers, and we are driven to help them realize their aspirations."

The workshop got underway with the Core Consulting Skills presentation, followed by the Crack-the-Case activity, which students solved in teams in their respective virtual breakout rooms. Tremendous teamwork and collaboration skills were demonstrated as they worked together to solve the case, with communication coming through audio features and digital whiteboarding.

"Great synergy and interaction were the main highlights of the workshop for my fellow students and me," said AlJohara Waleed AlTwijry. "Jeel Tamooh's virtual workshop was a valuable learning experience, which provided me a fresh perspective on how technology can become an invaluable enabler in bringing the best young minds together to become the next generation of leaders at the workplace. I look forward to more dynamic sessions in the near future in association with the Jeel Tamooh Program, which will help strengthen my leadership, professional, and interpersonal skills."

“The case study helped me understand my ability to approach and solve real-life issues and the overall session has replenished my confidence ahead of an upcoming consulting interview,” added Bandar Ewain. “The speaker was transparent, approachable, and supportive, while his extensive knowledge and insight was informative and helpful in equal measure.”
