Cricket in Saudi Arabia

The game of Cricket is being played in Saudi Arabia for over 5 decades, mainly by expatriate workers from the Asian sub-continent. It was in 1978, when for the first time, the regional cricket associations in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam started organized league matches on weekends and developed a few improved cricket facilities.

In 2003, after obtaining the license from The General Presidency for Youth Welfare, Saudi Cricket was formally registered as an associate member of Asian Cricket Council (ACC), and an affiliate member of International Cricket Council (ICC). Its main objectives was to promote, popularize and develop the game of cricket in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at grass root level.

In 2020, Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF), under the auspices of Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports, has finally been established, with HRH Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Mohammed Al Saud appointed as its first President and Chairman of the Board of Directors
