Volvo XC90 picks up two accolades at Wheels Car of the Year awards.

It was clean sweep for the Volvo XC90 as it picked up two prestigious awards from a field of strong contenders at the annual Wheels Car of the Year awards.

Volvo’s latest SUV picked up Premium SUV and Car of the Year 2016 awards from a jury comprising the motoring editors at Wheels magazine. The team at Wheels selected the XC90 as it ‘sets new standards in safety and efficiency and also a peek into the future of family cars.’

“We are absolutely thrilled that the XC90 has won these two prestigious and most respected awards,” said Mohammed Maktari, Managing Director of Trading Enterprises. “The XC90 represents the future design and technological direction for Volvo and is a strong indicator of things to come.”

“The XC90 with its clutch of technologies sets new standards in efficiency and safety. It’s a peek into the future of family cars and that’s the reason it is our 2016 Car of the Year,” said Amit Benjamin, Group Motoring Editor, GN Publishing.

Developed from the ground up, the all-new XC90 is the first car to be built on Volvo Cars’ Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) using its acclaimed Drive-E powertrain technology that provides power and a clean and fuel efficient drive from a four cylinder engine platform, giving as much power as conventional V6 and V8 engines.

With a blend of rich Scandinavian design elements, both inside and out, the XC90 delivers a commanding road presence with its distinct ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights and larger grille making a strong yet subtle statement. With two more world firsts for safety, the all-new Volvo XC90 is also the safest Volvo ever.

The new Sensus user interface is the most modern in-car control system on the market which includes Internet radio, connected navigation, seamless music streaming, the ability to mirror and use Apple and Android devices in the touch screen display, a hot spot for using a tablet in the car and much more.

The new Volvo XC90 also features a top-of-the-line premium audio system with a 1,400 watt amplifier and one of the first air-ventilated subwoofers integrated into the car body.
