Samsung Curved SUHD TV

Samsung continues to lead the TV industry innovation as the first company to have offered Curved TV. It is in essence the results of extensive research which enabled the creation of a curved screen that accommodates the human eye.

The TV's slight curvature not only improves on the effective viewing angle but also helps to mitigate video degradation that occurs once looking from off-center. The curved screen will cut down on side reflections better than a flat panel for obvious reasons; an affirmation upheld by Samsung’s philosophy. The less ambient light on the screen, the richer the colors will look and the blacker the blacks.

Above all, Samsung’s Curved UHD TV has a curve of 4,200 radii, making it the most curved TV in the world, and creating the perfect viewing experience so everyone watching the TV can enjoy the best seat in the house.

KeeWon Park, General Manager at Samsung Electronics KSA confirms: ‘by reflecting the anatomy of the human eye, the Curved screen is a more natural imagery form for the human visual recognition system. The curve shape provides more life-like images, all while reducing distortion and providing a more comfortable experience for the viewer. The human eye doesn't see just straight ahead, there's also peripheral vision that's built-in.’ This is how Samsung describes the benefits of a curved screen: ‘The Curved panel allows the distance between the user and TV screen to be the same from almost any angle and since the technology is self-emitting, off-axis viewing is excellent’.

Samsung’s Curved TV provides a wider field of view, a panoramic effect that makes the TV seem even bigger than it is, offering twice the enhanced contrast ratio of a flat TV. The inward curvature of the screen compresses the foreshortening of the image on the near side that appears larger, and the curvature on the far side enlarges the distant part of image that appears smaller, which improves the overall screen image geometry that is seen away from the central sweet spot.
