Saeed Bin Towq First Emirati to Compete in FIA World Rallycross Championship Event

UAE national Saeed Bin Towq drove in his first FIA World Rallycross Championship round at Lydden Hill Race Circuit in the United Kingdom last weekend (27-29 May), becoming the first Emirati to compete in the event.

Saeed contested the RX Lites Cup, a one-make feeder series, making it into the semi-finals driving with Team Olsbergs MSE.

No stranger to the local racing scene, the 26 year old is a Motorsport Executive at Dubai Autodrome in MotorCity and he has previously competed in the Middle East Rally Championship and the Formula Gulf 1000 Championship.  Now Saeed has made the jump to the global stage.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship debuted in 2014 and has since taken the world of motorsport by storm, attracting top drivers such as Sebastien Loeb, Mattias Ekstrom and Petter Solberg.

The Emirati felt at ease breaking into a sport dominated by European drivers.  He said, “Honestly it’s the most fun I have ever had in a race car, so much fun and I learned a great deal from Team Olsbergs MSE who treated me like family.”

Saeed Bin Towq is set to race again at round five in Norway (10-12 June 2016), round nine in Spain (16-18 September 2016) and round ten in Latvia (30 September-2 October 2016).
