ROSHN wraps up Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale presence with glimpse into the future of living and Saudi’s ecology

ROSHN Group, the PIF-owned giga-project and Saudi Arabia’s most trusted real estate developer, wrapped up its presence at Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale with a series of events and talks about the future of the Kingdom’s communities and the role of nature. ROSHN led activities, talks and workshops that aimed to drive debate about what the Kingdom’s public want from the communities of the future, as well as hosting sessions on what we can do to make our homes and communities greener.

Located in Diriyah’s JAX District and designed with both children and adults in mind, the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale is one of the largest events of its kind in the region with over two hundred thousand visitors attending over its twelve-week period. As a Foundation Partner, ROSHN held a number of talks related to architecture and urban planning, addressing such questions as, “What is your dream city?”, “A day in the city of tomorrow”, and, “the future of art in the cities of tomorrow.”

ROSHN also pioneered its Fertile Desert Green Initiative, a weekend of ecological restoration and community engagement that aimed to promote learning and engagement about Saudi Arabia’s diverse local flora. Designed very much with children and the young at heart in mind, activities included planter making and planting, tastings of various foods and products harvested from the area and talks about Saudi’s horticulture. ROSHN held a tree-planting day that was attended by +100 children, who prepared and planted local trees and shrubs in Wadi Hanifa. These children were gifted a giveaway gardening kit to encourage them to begin gardening at home.

“This year’s Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale combined so many of our passion points, from the importance of art to community building and the promotion of sustainability and how they all relate to our quality of life,” explained Ghada AlRumayan, ROSHN's Group Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. “We have been delighted with the public’s response to our presence and activities this year as part of our wider strategy of supporting the country’s artistic and cultural landscape of Saudi Arabia, in-line with Vision 2030’s vibrant society goals.
