A delegation from the National Water Company (NWC), headed by Engineer Nemer bin Mohammed Al-Shebl, CEO of the National Water Company, and representatives from the Saudi Ministry of Investment, visited the Turkish capital, Ankara, from 28 to 30 November 2023. On its first day, the delegation reviewed the company’s portfolio of capital projects with the Turkish companies specialized in implementing infrastructure projects for the water and sanitation sectors.
On November 29 and 30, 2023, the Saudi delegation held workshops at the headquarters of the Turkish Contractors Authority with a group of Turkish companies interested in implementing infrastructure projects for the water and sanitation sectors in the Kingdom. In these workshops, Eng. Nemer Al-Shebl, NWC, CEO and Eng. Mansour Abu Thunain his Executive Deputy for Projects and Technical Services Sector, the company’s future capital projects portfolio.
The company explained that representatives of the Ministry of Investment facilitated the registration procedures for the Turkish contractors, and NWC representatives registered the Turkish companies in the NWC’s contractor qualification system.
The company added that 29 Turkish companies that attended the workshops were interested in competing to implement packages for the portfolio of capital projects and major infrastructure for the water and sanitation sectors in the Kingdom. NWC noted that these projects received great interest from Turkish companies that are distinguished by their long experience in this domain.
The company stated that its visit goal is to meet with Turkish contractors to introduce its activities to the Turkish side, and to present the most important projects that it wishes to implement, which are focused on implementing water and sewage network expansion projects, in addition to qualifying and constructing water purification plants and sewage treatment plants (STPs). NWC noted that the visit aimed to review future partnership opportunities between the two sides.
The company stated that the workshops held were a result of the “Saudi-Turkish Business Forum” event held on March 19, 2023 in Riyadh, with the participation of more than 450 Saudi and Turkish companies, and several government agencies in the two countries.
