MYCONTENT 2017 successfully concludes in Dubai today

MYCONTENT & the Dubai International Brand Licensing Fair, part of the ‘Big Entertainment Show’, successfully concluded in Dubai today, with a special focus on forging new ties and strengthening bilateral relations between the UAE and China’s mainstream media industries.

While commenting on their participation in MYCONTENT, Shen Jianing, the General Manager of TV Program Marketing Department of China International Television Corporation, CITVC, said, “MYCONTENT is truly a global event, with many international companies from India, China and South Korea participating in the show. MYCONTENT has also shown the willingness of the UAE to communicate with many diverse countries with different cultures in promoting cross cultural understanding. At CITVC, which is 100 percent owned by CCTV, the biggest broadcaster in China, we aim to distribute the Chinese content to Arabic speaking countries and look for potential coproduction and cooperation opportunities in the future”.

While speaking about cooperation opportunities with the UAE media, she further added that, “UAE is an important country in the Arab world and Dubai is truly a global city. I am also glad to say that CCTV’s Middle East bureau is located in Dubai. We intend to further develop existing cooperation with various UAE media organizations, broadcasters and production companies going forward.  CITVC both produces and distributes content and we produce TV series, Documentaries, Animations and Entertainment shows and this is where the UAE and China’s media can explore potential coproduction opportunities.”

On his part, Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice-Chairman and Group CEO of INDEX Holding, said, “China and the UAE have fostered great friendship through the ancient Silk Road. The ‘Belt & Road’ Initiative has also brought new opportunities for collaboration between China and the UAE and this includes the ‘Media’ industry. Media organizations can play a significant role in cultural enrichment and knowledge transfer while also highlighting the untold stories of the people and their dreams.”

The UAE and China’s mainstream media are seeking new collaboration opportunities on the sidelines of MYCONTENT 2017, at a time when in April 2016, the China Intercontinental Communication Center CICC signed the Belt and Road Media Union Initiative with representatives from 16 international media outlets in Beijing, marking the official establishment of the “Belt & Road Media Cooperation Union (MCU).

Under the partnership framework of MCU, CICC and its partners will establish the B&R TV, a multicultural and multilingual television network broadcasting in the countries along the Belt and Road routes and a TV brand jointly operated by the broadcasters from these countries.
