MBSC welcomes representatives from University College London during visit to Riyadh

The visit aims to strengthen knowledge exchange and collaboration to support innovation in Saudi Arabia's healthcare industry

Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College (MBSC) honorarily welcomed a group of academics and healthcare professionals representing University College London (UCL) in Riyadh this month. UCL’s visit to Saudi Arabia and MBSC’s campus comes as a result of growing interest in the opportunities for innovation within the Kingdom’s healthcare industry.

Led by its Vice Dean, Dr. Larissa Von Alberti Alhtaybat, MBSC successfully hosted Dr. Julie Davies of UCL and an accompanying delegation from the university during their visit to the college’s campus and capital city. MBSC students and alumni from every major sector of healthcare were in attendance to welcome the UCL delegation and discuss avenues for collaboration in research and consultancy.

“We at MBSC are pleased to welcome the representatives from UCL during their trip to Saudi Arabia and we look forward to developing a lasting, professional and social relationship between our colleges,” stated Dr. Alhtaybat. “Dr. Davies and the UCL’s representatives’ trip to Saudi Arabia comes at an opportune time as the Kingdom's healthcare industry continues to grow, supported by young, ambitious minds. From a symbolic level, UCL’s visit embodies the purpose of the university experience, to exchange knowledge with peers and gain insights on how to make a difference in the world.”

“By equipping students with essential life skills through our academic programs, MBSC is proud to work in cohesion with leading institutions and meet the ever-evolving needs of local, regional and global markets,” added Dr. Alhtaybat.

Founded in 1826, University College London is the second-largest university in the United Kingdom by total enrolment and the largest by postgraduate enrolment. The institution’s education and research programs are divided into eleven departments, which include UCL’s Medical Sciences faculty. With a total enrollment body of 43,800 in 2022, UCL is currently ranked 8th in the 2023 QS World University Rankings and was rated 2nd in the United Kingdom for research power in the Research Excellence Framework 2021.

“We are honored to visit MBSC amidst the changes occurring within Saudi Arabia,” said Dr. Julie Davies, who serves as the Deputy Director (EDI) and Director of the MBA and EMBA health programs at UCL. “Not only has our visit allowed us to analyze avenues to conduct collaborative research to benefit the Kingdom’s healthcare industry, but it also allows our institution to connect with other forward thinking-academic institutions globally. UCL prides itself on being a diverse global community of world-class academics who prioritize disruptive thinking to create valuable solutions.”

“We look forward to maintaining a dynamic exchange of knowledge with MBSC to help uplift and enable the generation of leaders in health care,” added Dr. Davies.

Established in 2015, Prince Mohammed bin Salman College of Business and Entrepreneurship is an academic and research institution specializing in postgraduate studies in entrepreneurship, leadership, and business. MBSC provides high-quality international education in line with the needs of regional markets, including the healthcare industry.

Dedicated to improving the capabilities of the Kingdom, MBSC seeks to help its students develop a better understanding of the integration between different business sectors and stimulate the direct application of knowledge and skills in the real world.

With support from Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program, Saudi Arabia continues an ambitious drive toward transforming and enhancing the domestic healthcare sector by the close of the decade. In alignment, MBSC seeks to continually integrate its curriculum with the needs of Vision 2030 and nurture an innovative and entrepreneurial culture amongst students.
