MAWANI ports handle 645,000 TEUs in July

The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said that the number of containers handled in July decreased to 645,020 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in, compared to 753,500 TEUs in the same month last year.
 

 

In a statement, MAWANI said that inbound containers rose 15.72% to 271,470 in July, from 234,600 in the prior-year period. The number of outbound containers also declined 2.50% to 243,760 last month, compared to 250,000 in July 2023.

 

 

 

The general cargo reached 701,600 tons in July, while liquid bulk cargo reached 15.35 million. MAWANI added that ports received 506,020 livestock heads for the same month, compared to 222,330 in the same month of 2023.

 

 

 

Handled containers grew 9.11% year-on-year (YoY) to 27.38 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in July, while transshipment containers were down 51.73% YoY to 129,790 during the same month, from 268,900 TEUs in July 2023.

 

 

 

The maritime traffic saw a decline of 11.24% YoY to 908 ships in July. Likewise, the number of passengers fell 31.8% to 52,200 last month, compared to 76,530 last year. The number of cars decreased by 8.64% YoY to 90,470 for the same month.
