The groundbreaking for our latest project, ALMANAR, is special. This destination is not only the largest integrated community to be built in the holy city, with 33,000 homes spread across 21 million square meters, but it also represents a shift in the quality of life that we will offer to Makkah and its residents.
As ROSHN Group, our aim is to not just build homes for people but to create communities that offer both residents and visitors everything they could need and more. For example, ALMANAR will include schools, mosques, shopping centers and healthcare facilities and more. In total, there will be 150 amenities on site.
What I have described is only one aspect of how we see and deliver on the community experience. For example, we realize the value of green, open spaces which promote exercise and wellbeing; ALMANAR will have not only open spaces but tracks for walking, running and cycling. We take a similar, forward-looking approach to sustainability – ALMANAR is Mostadam-certified at diamond level, meaning that we design, build and will operate the community to the highest sustainability standards in the Kingdom, with a focus on energy efficiency and resource usage.
Behind this approach is delivering on our Vision 2030 mandate. While we directly contribute to several vision realization programs, such as the Quality of Life, Housing and PIF Programs, with our expansion into and investment in verticals beyond housing, commercial and retail, for example education, entertainment and sports, we have the ability to do more for the Kingdom’s transformation and growth.
Let me give you one example of how we are touching more lives as ROSHN Group. Given ALMANAR’s location, there’s an obvious link to what we are doing for the Pilgrim Experience Program. ALMANAR is only twenty minutes from the center of Makkah, the Masjid al-Haram, the place of pilgrimage for Muslims around the world. ALMANAR as well as our projects in Jeddah including MARAFY will be a part of that journey for many people who wish to undertake pilgrimage.
Another example of how we are contributing to Makkah and its development is the investments that we will make in education. By opening up schools in ALMANAR and by working with a variety of providers, be they local or international, we aim to upskill the capabilities of the city’s young people, building future talents and leaders skills, instilling values and developing knowledge to meet the requirements of the Saudi market.
What I have touched upon is only a hint of what we intend to do for Makkah and its people through our investments and plans for ALMANAR and our other projects in the Western Region. Ultimately, our aim is to make as much of a positive impact forthe city as possible, and with the groundbreaking we have embarked on a journey that will help boost and improve Makkah for years to come. At ROSHN Group, we are all excited about the possibilities ahead for Makkah, its residents and every person who visits the holy city. Let’s build the difference together.
