The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources resumed the exports of red sand (sand dunes) from the licensed mining complex in Ghunan, the Eastern Province.
In a statement, the ministry added that this marks the first stage of resuming sand and gravel exports from several licensed mining complexes.
The move came after completing the technical and environmental studies with the relevant government agencies, as well as holding meetings and workshops with investors, and developing guidelines, controls, and procedures for export applications, the ministry noted.
It added that the selection of mining complexes to resume the exports of basic raw building materials is based on several criteria, including the proximity of complexes to border crossings, as well as completing coordination with relevant government agencies and development of the target mining complexes.
