Il Baretto Riyadh makes Saudi history with enthralling New Year’s Eve celebrations

The famed Italian restaurant threw a New Year’s Eve soiree to remember, bringing teatro to the Kingdom for the first time

Il Baretto Riyadh – the Saudi Capital’s most desirable Italian dining destination – celebrated a monumental New Year’s Eve, throwing one of the most popular and celebrated soirees in the capital and introducing the Kingdom to the glamorous Italian teatro. Located in the heart of the trendy KAFD neighbourhood, Il Baretto transported diners back to the golden age of theatre alongside live acts inspired by iconic classic movies. 

Opening a new scene for events in restaurants across Saudi Arabia, the restaurant set a new precedent for events to come, creating a new concept of nightlife in the Kingdom, which attracted locals, tourists and expats. Guests were invited to enjoy Il Baretto’s signature menu, inspired by the exquisitely diverse cuisines of Italy’s 20 regions, while they enjoyed a festive atmosphere and Il Baretto’s signature warm hospitality. Multiple mesmerising live acts entertained guests throughout the evening, taking inspiration from theatre and classic cinema, making Il Baretto’s offering unique in the city and driving huge demand. 

Il Baretto’s renowned cuisine and beverages were enjoyed by all, with the signature a la carte menu and a complimentary welcome drink created especially for the occasion. Il Baretto’s most famous dishes were all enjoyed - including decadent Beef Carpaccio with Black Truffle, Chateaubriand, fresh seafood and homemade pasta, pizza and risotto - the perfect accompaniment to a night of frivolity and live entertainment. 

Il Baretto underwent a full revamp of the restaurant in preparation for the night, transforming it into an Italian teatro. All windows were covered for more privacy, creating an intimate party vibe, and the usually bright and modern dining room was transformed into a shiny, theatre-inspired haunt. Guests looked the part and turned out in black tie and their festive best – and entered the restaurant via a dazzling teatro-inspired frontage with vintage bulbs and signage that hid its usual identity. Once inside, the space was transformed with show lights, streamers, sumptuous orange velvet touches, movie posters and staff clad in sharply tailored suits and elegant sparkly dresses. 

Il Baretto Riyadh’s New Year’s Eve ushered in a new era for dining and nightlife in the Kingdom on 31 December 2023 and continues to embrace this pioneering spirit in the Near Year.
