Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) announced reducing the maximum limit for recruiting domestic workers from a number of countries, including the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.

This step comes within the ministry's efforts to review the recruitment costs and applicable laws, as per changes.
The ministry instructed earlier the licensed recruitment offices to set the maximum limit for recruitment costs of domestic workers from some nationalities. The maximum limit was set for domestic workers from Sierra Leone at SAR 7,500, Burundi (SAR 7,500) and Thailand (SAR 10,000), excluding VAT.
